Geek Sync Webcast : Size does matter: Reducing the size of the database with In-Row and LOB data compression

Hosting and administration of large databases presents many challenges. These databases require powerful hardware to operate, and thoroughly designed maintenance, HA and DR strategies to meet SLAs.

In this webinar, Dmitri will discuss two techniques that can help reducing the database size. He will show how to compress In-Row data with ROW and PAGE compression, how to choose the right compression type for the different kind of data and system workloads, and what the performance implications introduced by both compression types. Finally, he will demonstrate how to compress LOB data in the system with CLR stored procedures.
